8.4.1976 a whimper than a bang,

Today went with more of a whimper than a bang, but I suppose end of terms have come to mean less to us now we’ve experienced 17 of them. Who would have thought, 17 terms ago, that by April 1976 I would have been a member of the YCL for a whole year.
My achievements may appear small but circumstances are so difficult here. I could have done more, I could have been active in the Hull Branch all through the Summer. Now I sleep at Grandad’s regularly and can catch a late bus home, there’s no excuse (except lack of cash) for missing any event. I’ve converted one member and have helped win over another. I’ve made a communist presence at our school, which now means all those who become interested in the movement can always get in touch with me. There’s now a good chance to set up a branch. If every member did this, the YCL would more than double in strength in a few months.
