1.2.1976

This Sunday, though still in the grip of really cold Siberian weather, was reminiscent of about a year ago. Aimless, with not much work being done and a sort of contented boredom.

This did not last long, for I read more Engels in the afternoon, leading up to “The World at War”. This time, I am going to watch whatever comes – I used to cover my face up last time when the more gruesome parts came on. I hope that this will crush the last vestiges of the belief that war is glorious, in me. It’s a phase that becomes particularly strong at about 11 or 12 then as the facts become more apparent, ideas are modified.

That is why, although I would be willing to fight for the Cause, it would have to be the last resort – literally. A line of argument, like this i.e. of what I would or would not do if a war broke out, is highly speculative and unproductive. The Revolution, which authorities like the CMCW* put at between 1976 and 1982 will be a bloodless, although politically violent one. Such authorities are the originators and proliferators of “Reds under the bed” scares (scares?).
