4.4.1976 “duties”

If today was not a black day, then it certainly was a shade of grey. My plan of reading in the morning was rudely shattered by the off spin of a parental conflict, my father (he is merely the one who fathered me, not given me any of the affection and attention due to a son) referring to me as “that lazy bugger upstairs” over the question of “duties” around the house. Of course I do what I can, but most of my time is spent studying. This outburst was forthcoming and he must have brooded for a long time, or at least acquiesced, before this crass reassertion of his idiotic idea (if that is the word, for it implies mental processed hence cerebral material) that the only valid and acceptable form of work is that which leaves the body wholly exhausted. This of course , mirrors the opinion of many of the less educated proletariat and is unfortunate – made especially more so by the generally unacceptable and savage character of my “father”. He is little more than a scourge.

I believe that traditions like this are essentially working class and a product of the capitalist (and feudal, etc) system. Having deep roots, they are impossible to counter on an individual basis but must be the task of the proletarian leaders to re-educate them over this question
