Was pretty well recovered from flu today, although was in no state to write a history essay. Saw an interesting dinner time report on defence expenditure, now at £4500* million p.a. and increasing yearly. The media, especially since the Soviet backed MPLA have been recognised as the official government of Angola, have been trying to whip up a lot of anti communist (and especially Russian propaganda) feeling. The days of McCarthy witch hunts are over – besides it will be a Communist Revolution in Britain!
Read some Marx in the evening, but not a great deal because much reasoning is demanded – Marx is far from being a propagandist and as a literary figure, cannot be ignored by scholars. He also has appeal to wider sections of the community.
