Read Julius Caesar in the evening, or rather finished what I started yesterday. I committed an act of philistinism by breaking off halfway through Antony’s “Friends, Romans and countrymen...” to watch some television! Still, I was very moved, almost to tears when reading the aforementioned. A lump came to my throat when reading Marc Antony’s mourning over the mutilated Caesar. This is really more the tragedy of Marcus Brutus than anyone else.
This was only a first reading, so there will be many valuable points that I’ve missed or failed to appreciate fully. Still a play with great emotional impact. Will haste to read it again when I find the time.
Got a letter from Steve Flint today, asking how things are going on in the area. In few words, they are not!! I‘m a little doubtful how much support I’d be able to rouse for Steve if he came through. My chief fear is that he should turn up and there be only a few people turn up. My enthusiasm come in leaps and bounds, at the moment it has increased after a short period of doubt.
