Despite large amounts of work, today I did cross country – no short cuts either (unlike the present government’s attitude towards social services!!) Fortunately the weather was very good so it was more like a spring afternoon ramble than anything else.

There was the usual rubbish on television in the evening, so I did some thinking about setting up a local YCL Branch. It still seems remote because the only one really keen on the left at our school is Paul Carr. Robinson, it appears, is just one of those word of mouth communists who are willing to say plenty and do little for the cause. Rang Trevor up in the evening and we had a short chat. Arranged to get together for this Saturday, be confirmed after he looks out some timetables for the trains. He seems pretty enthusiastic and we’re both full of ideas.

Have decided to go to the meeting this Friday, because the Secretary of the Secretariat, Carol Woodward, is giving a talk on “The Crisis of Capitalism”.
