(Good Friday...yes this Friday was very good to me!)
Had a day out today....Where? I don’t know the name, but you’ve guessed it – a chateau!!
All this aside, had the most wonderful experience in the evening. The local was deserted and the five of us in the bar got talking to a group of about 20 French young people. The girls were very beautiful and I managed to speak a lot of French (they spoke no English). They greet each other by handshakes between boys and two kisses on each cheek for the girls...after the lack of contact in England, this was a very gladdening experience. A girl sitting on a boy’s lap- in the absence of seats – has no sexual connotations as here; as I found with Nadine naively sat on mine.
Nadine and her sister, Martine, took a detour just to see us home safely and were most insistent that we meet again tomorrow morning. A lot of “peut-être, sis, c’est possible’s” and “c’est probable’s” were about, but we got the right strings pulled. We avoided going to Chinonceau with the rest of the party the next day. Really beautiful people....
